I just had an incredibly awesome and crazy hectic past couple of days.
PhotoPlus Expo was just here in NYC so that was a party... I had two very special houseguests... one Amber Holritz an Shyla Dsomething. It was all sorts of awesomeness all in one. For a sort of play by play of what went down, check out Amber's blog HERE. I can say that without a doubt Amber and Shyla are my two new BFF4EVANEVALOLTTYL's They were so kind and so sweet and I kind of wanted to keep them. Alas [sigh] no such luck.
Here's a few images I swiped from Amber's blog... and a few of my own from my new point and shoot.
we made amber an awesome shirt
Shy and I worked the shootsac booth on Friday - see this post for full details
this was Shyla's date for the expo. Rumor has it he was about as fun as a kick in the teeth.
After seeing so many blogs out there, I decided I needed to do something a little different. Every blog out there is riddled with those self portraits - you know, where you hold your little point and shoot and take a picture of you and Mickey Mouse or something... So now I am doing the anti-self portrait. This is one of Shy and me at the Cloisters. We look like we're having an awesome time? You know that really ginormous toothy smile Shyla gets? Well just imagine it. IMAGINE IT, damnit.
Well, Amber left and went on her marry way to shoot a kickin wedding back home. Shy and I had gone exploring NYC and rocked that city so hard, there was nothing left to see come friday night. So we drove up to my real home in Boston. Saturday morning we went with my bro to meet my mom at the Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary. [she's a volunteer instructor there] Here are some pics of Shyla feeding the chickadees... yeah, that's right. They liked her THAT much that they actually came and ate out of her hand and right off her hat.
Not to be outdone, my brother actually had this huge pumpkin eating out of his hand.
East coast chickadees, what what
a photo essay in three pieces. Shyla in the New England Fall
After rockin out in MA, we hit the road and headed up to my cottage in Maine. It was exploding with color and just an amazing experience. My camera battery died [of course] but just trust me. It was wicked pretty. Here is a rainbow we saw on the way up there:
yay for good times with good friends.
Shyla will be posting way more images from the adventure. Go check out her blog HERE.
Be Joyful. Seek the joy of being alive. Especially in the New England fall.

Yesterday was a beautiful day in downtown Brookline with Julie and John. They don't live here.. oh no no no they are way way way down south. In Pennsylvania.
We had a blast trekking all around the city, and then to the beautiful Veronique. Many thanks to the incredible staff for their generosity and fantastic attitudes...
What started as a mellow day quickly evolved into a pretty bumpin party and into the wee hours... Julie, John, and family, thank you for welcoming me into your special day with huge open arms! Enjoy a few images...
lil bit of on camera, lil bit of off camera and a little bit of awesomeness

It's fall in New England! You could argue that, yeah, everyone looks amazing in the fall. Sure... but not THIS amazing.
Bernice and Andrew and I headed out to Harvard Square [don't worry, way before the city started to get ready for the Sox game.. c'mon boys!] So Bernice has been living in the area for a while and knows the area really well. We bounced around by the river, into Harvard Yard, over by the Radcliffe park... great stuff. We even stopped by Lizzy's to get some tastey ice cream. I'm so excited for their wedding in January [1st wedding of 2008!] It's gonna be so amazing! These two are awesome...
some fallness
Andrew and Bernice - it was a real treat to get to spend the afternoon with you today. I can't wait for january.
seek the joy.

Ladies, Gentlemen, and Photographers.
Listen up. It’s game
time. Are you going to Photo Plus? Of course you are. Everyone is. So my question for you is this… do you wanna sac up with me?
Introducing and announcing Sac up with Shyla and :e:
Here’s how it works. Shyla, :e:,
and shootsac have teamed up to bring you the
latest in awesome experiences. On
Friday, October 19th, come by the Shootsac booth [#2042]. Shyla and eric are going to be there
strutting their stuff and modeling the new hotness that is the Shootsac. As if that isn’t enough…
For every Shootsac that is sold we are donating $5 to the Give the Gift of Sight Foundation
– a cause near and dear to photographers’ hearts. At the end of the day, the total amount is
being matched by :e:, doubling the donation amount. The Give the Gift of Sight Foundation is an
incredible organization, and I would definitely encourage you to check them out
at their link above.
On top of all this, you get to see Shyla in person [if you
ask her nicely, she may even sign your receipt or something.] Makeouts are an
extra $20 [$5 for eric, he’s cheap]
So come by the Shootsac booth on Friday and say hi, pick up
a Shootsac, and help people who cannot see clearly see the world as beautifully
as you do.
C’mon

Vince is one of the funniest guys I know.
And he is the best actor I have ever seen live. [He's tied with Larry Hecht]
I was actually in a show with Vince. He was playing Malvolio in Twelfth Night. I was playing this peon [I can't even remember his name... isn't that sad?] who came on in the beginning, had about four lines of plot divulgence, then i went off backstage and spent the rest of the show watching Vince from the wings and rolling hysterically. Not only can he make high schoolers actually sit up an pay attention to Shakespeare he can actually have them [gasp] laughing out loud. Part of that may be due to the fact that he was prancing around in yellow knee-highs half the time, but I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt and say it was because he is just incredible.
Here are some pictures of Vince... yeah, he cleans up OK.
then we played a game. I think this game is gonna be my new favorite game to play at shoots. It's called the "OK, now make a face that represents how I made you feel this shoot." Here's what he came up with.
ha ha ha ha ha haa

Down the South Shore a stretch not too far from here, but not really that far from there either, is a small coastal New England town where the dorys drift aimlessly with the waning and waxing of the tides, the high schoolers [finishing their afternoon athletics] drag their kayaks into the bay for a sunset cruise, and the locals greet you with an all knowing grin and a tip of their Sox hat. Welcome to Cohasset, and welcome to the marriage of Brian and Kim.
Brian and Kim met their freshman year at college and have been inseparable ever since. From "magic carpet rides" on moving dollys down the dorm hallways to misadventures down under, there is no shortage of excitement with these two. In addition to both being staunch stewards for the environment they are world wise, bright, and the kind of people everyone should have the joy of knowing. I was so blessed to have the behind the scenes pass to their union on Saturday.
Without further ado, I am honored to present Brian and Kim
... and ready, set, go! a last minute phone call
a most incredible custom made gown
and yes, the bridesmaids were in Vera
there is a story behind this, I swear... It's Kim's fault. She saw me shooting the details and thought that since I was SOOOOOO interested in them, I should wear them too.
Kim. Classic and beautiful.
the wedding celebrated all the New England fall that was in the air... check out this awesomeness
the dashing groom
She knows what's going on. The fellas are oblivious. How like life...
a proud and teary father
down to the shore for some post ceremony shots
even the little ones could not help but be affected by the love in the air
after their engagement shoot a while back, we shot some really fun table number shots
Brian and Kim, I cannot thank you enough for giving me the honor of capturing your special day. May the sun always be at your backs and you continue to grace the world with your love. Have a wonderful honeymoon!!!

Diana and I [and Lisa, of course...] hung out on the upper west side getting in some shooting for her new fabulous career... coming to a Broadway playhouse near you.
Hailing from the DC/Alexandria area, Diana is no stranger to the dance floor. Her mother, a dancer and choreographer herself, raised her eldest daughter on a healthy diet of Fosse, ballet, jazz, tap... the usual. All the while prancing around she was listening to her dad do a pretty "tight" Sinatra impersonation. Thus, the megastar was born. A certified tripple threat Diana can do it all from Shakespeare to Sondheim. Keep your eyes open. She's on her way...
Also, a very special congrats to her little sister who just got engaged! Yay!
OK. Time for some hotness.
what goes into a shot like this, you may ask? Well thank you for asking. I'll tell you. Actually, I'll show you. It's not all glitz and glam, people. I think Diana looks beautiful in the shot above, but you gotta have all the elements working for you. Some ingredients for success? See below...
seek the joy!
