Bringing Wednesday Back

I am now back in Colorado [for a short time - florida next week, CO for a couple of days, then moving to NYC!]

The day began with Michelle.  Michelle is currently in Forum at the Denver Center. She also has a sweet new mop with some killer bangs - though if you ask her, I think she really wants my do.  And she told me to do what i can to tell every woman out there about the NuBra.  Perfect for those opening night parties when you're sick and tired of duct tape, the NuBra is the solution to all your strapless quandaries.  I'm thinking of picking up a couple myself. Anyways, Michelle is gorgeous and talented and as sweet as can be...

Graceann is not in Forum.  She's actually just getting started! She started taking classes with the Denver Center Theatre Academy and caught the bug.  It always amazes that no matter how young or old you are, once you get bit by the acting bug, you're done.  That's it.  There is no hope for you. You're caught in the footlights. Anyways, Graceann's brand new headshots turned out splendidly and packaged up with her southern charm she's gonna be unstoppable!

Next comes Kathy.  If you've ever seen anything at the Denver Center chances are, Kathy was in it.  PCPA, DCTC, SOS... Kathy is the queen of major theatre acronyms.  She's also insanely talented.  If you ever get a chance to spend some time with her make sure you stretch first, 'cause she'll have you rolling on the ground in hysterics.  She is also really famous from her Nintendo commercials.

That Other Maine School

Two posts ago I posted from New York.  Last post was in Denver, CO.  This post is coming to you from Brunswick, ME.

I'm here in Maine - the best of all states [next to denial, that is] - for a headshot shoot and my sister's graduation.  Sure, I went to a rival Maine college.  But I can strongly say that my educashun was way much better than was hers.  So there.

It was sweltering.  Sweat was beading on my forehead and drenching my shirt. There ain't no humidity in Denver, so 95 degrees aint nuthin... but my new friend Michael [also a grad of this other Maine school...] braved the heat, the scorpions, and the flocking class of '07 to get his headshots done :e: style.  Bet you didn't know Michael just got back from Paris.  Yup.  He was training at the Le Coq institute.  Just clowning around... you know.  Man.  My jokes are getting worse and worse.  I should see someone about that.  Anyways, we had a blast, and i can't wait to hear about all the awesome work he'll be doing in the upcoming months!

so my sister decided she wanted me to shoot a photo essay of her because it is her graduation.  I willingly obliged.

ha ha ha ha  well i couldn't post those incriminating pictures without posting a stunning one.. she's beautiful, right?

John, Kevin, and Rain

It was a rainy, rainy Tuesday.  That's great because rain is only liquid sunshine.  I've been saying that since my days at Belknap and I believe it as strongly now as I did then.

Here I am, back in Denver, CO for a couple of days before I head out to my sister's graduation this weekend. I got the chance to squeeze in two headshot shoots today - good times were had by all.  Especially me.  I love this stuff.

So... Kevin.  Kevin's getting married.  This weekend. In the South somewhere. It sounds like it's gonna be a pretty sweet ceremony - really chill, outdoor BBQ, good company.  It should be noted, however, that Kevin has not shaved in 5 years.  Literally.  So when the time came for his shoot this afternoon, he had to ask his soon to be if it was alright with her if he shaved - she was all like "Yea, but I won't recognize you!" Little does she know that under that scruffy Thom Yorke facade is a dashing leading man... who would have thought?!?! Kevin just graduated graduate school from Naropa, where he majored in "being in a collective."  That's cool.  I'd like to be in a collective one day. So check out this good lookin dude... and watch for him on an upcoming WB special... or in the South somewhere.

John is not an actor. No sir.  He used to be a parole enforcement officer.  That's pretty badass.  Now he's in real estate.  That is REALLY badass. He could sell a swimsuit to an astronaut. Hmm.... that's not really that funny.  Well, it's late.  John needed some new pictures for some promo material and so I was happy to accommodate.  He was a little nervous at first but we settled right in and ended up with some great shots.  BTW... if anyone is in the Denver area and looking to buy... this guy is the man.  He loves working exclusively with buyers and is known as THE guy to go to in these parts.  Check him out!

Fred's Wife

Today was overcast.  VERY overcast.  You know what that means.... great photos!

Carey was the subject of today's shutter - I did a Christmas Carol with Carey at the Denver Center this past year and we've stayed friends ever since.  She's totally a sweetie.  Did you know she helps train all the animals that appear in shows on Broadway? Yeah - she works for the guy that provided and trained the dog for the original cast of Annie... that's just plain awesome.  What else is totally awesome is the fact that she is allergic to almost every animal out there.  Horses, dogs, chickens, ferrets, cats, sheep, llama, and orca.  Actually I made that last one up.  Anyways, here's Carey's pics... pretty pretty pretty...

Wash HGTS Jackson HGTS

SO I had another awesome day of shooting rockstars... Started the day in Queens, ended the day on that big pickle known as Manhattan. Good times.

So Amanda.  Amanda has two fake last names and that makes her automatically cooler tha most of us out there.  She also has a kickin pad.  Another plus. She also has a sweet collection of smudges on the wall of her newly painted bedroom... my bad.  Just kidding.  It was the construction guys. So amidst the sweet aroma of meatballs being made in the kitchen, we snapped off some killer pics.  ALSO - she is great friends with julia [who happens to have a sweet new blog here]

Then there was Brad. You've already seen some sweet pictures of him... he just needed something commercial - you know, those toothy grins that everyone hates to do but for some reason the "industry" wants them... silly little industry.  So We had a few minutes of sunlight left and there was a lamp post... and the rest is history.  If you're under 18 ask your parents permission before looking at these...

Kristy + Paul :e: session

I went to school with these two.  Kristy actually went by Southie back then, because that's where she hailed from.  Actually, that's not really true but that's what I'm going with here.  I wish that I wasn't on the road, 'cause there are things I would love to do with these images, but alas, all I have with me is this business laptop and I can't get the screen to cooperate so if these are really light or really dark, my apologies... I'll fix them when I get back to my studio.

Anyways, these two are some of my favorite people in the world... Southie used to affectionately call me Squaric [I'll give you one guess why... and it WASN'T because I was so cool...].  Their wedding is in Maine in August back at our Alma Mater [where Paul's folks actually went to school, too] Colby College.  You should see if you can get invited because it seriously is gonna be an amazing weekend... think softball, die, BBQ, die, Johnson Pond, die, Big G's, golf, Bad Dog, Big Head Bundy, my favorite rugby ladies, Stock-to-Stone, and die. I can't wait!!!

Ben + Atsuko :: Brooklyn Botanic Garden

She's from the East, he's from the West. She's a sociologist, he's a jazz musician. He's like eight feet and she's like five.

Bright and early today I headed out to Park Slope, Brooklyn, NYC, NY, USA for a stunning wedding with Benjamin and Atsuko. It was beautiful and there wasn't a dry eye in the house!  The day started off at the Escape Guesthouse Bed & Breakfast. Then we took a sweet limo over to the the Audubon Boathouse in Prospect Park, then we headed deep into the depths of the gardens. The reception was held at the AWESOME Frankie's Spuntino. Amidst moving toasts and speeches and great eats, some of Ben's friends provided a little swing putting putting the final touches on a perfect day.

The Cloisters

My life is so crazy right now, but I just wanted to drop you all a quick note to let you know what I've been up to...

Yesterday I shot two lovely actors up by the Cloisters.  If you've never been to the Cloisters, you are missing out.  It's a little slice of serenity in an otherwise ridiculously crazy city. To get there, take the A train to 190th, go up the elevator and then meander through Ft. Tyron Park.  It's AWESOME!

First up was Alex.  Now, I first shot Alex when he was just a wee little lad - two years ago - before he had graduated from University of Colorado - Greeley.  Now he's all growed up and in New York City. Hands off ladies, he's gotta girl... she's out in LA doing a showcase and aspiring  to a career in modeling. If you're ever in the D&B in Times Square, look him up.  He's a real sweet dude.

Next up was Susanna. Susana was Juliet to my Romeo, Eve to my Cain, and Housewife to my Fireman.   Actually, that last one doesn't work, but whatever.  After three years of me pleading to take her picture, she finally consented and we were able to snap off a few rounds before she had to run off to an audition. Makeup was done by Kerri who runs one of the biggest MAC stores in the country. Good times were had by all. GK, Susanna's husband was getting jealous that his wife was getting all these pictures and he wasn't getting anything so Susanna took a headshot of him, too.

New York City?!

Yes, I am in NEW YORK!

Yesterday i had my showcase for a bunch of agents and industry types.  Much cooler than that, though, I spent about an hour hanging out in the new Reproductions office.  It's amazing.   If you ever get a chance, go check it out.  It's on the third floor of a nice building right across from Bryant Park  Good Stuff.

I was in HEAVEN this morning as i walked into the actual B&H store right next to Penn Station. It's kind of like my personal Nirvana - walls and walls and walls and floors of camera gear. so sweet.  I needed to pick up a few things that i couldn't travel with [light stand, travel bag, extra CF card, reflector..] Anways, if you're ever anywhere near the city, check it out.  it's incredible.

So that's just a brief little update of what's going on.  I have a bunch of headshot shoots coming up as well as a wedding and an engagement shoot this weekend.  Check back soon and often for some fun updates.
